Humidity, Rocky and Tilly

June 24, 2022

Ahhhhh, rainy season seems to be here and the summer humidity brings with it three clothes changes daily, a requisite two showers which I often don’t. Didn’t say I was proud of it. But, while everyone bemoans the gross film of perspiration making its way to the outer epidermis, and the accompanying effin’ mosquitoes that find my blood to be the Beaujolais of Human Blood, I welcome the change of seasons. See, I no longer need to wonder what old men meant by the humidity loosens their joints. It makes the days walking the dogs much friendlier than those crisp dry winter mornings, though I do need to be sprayed down afterward.

Rocky was on last night. The score by Bill Conti is amazing. I mean I love Gonna Fly Now (Actually, first record I ever bought), but the music of Going The Distance still gives me goosebumps immediately with the first note, the bell being rung, followed by the string instrument repetition (wish I knew what it was) creating tension. (For what its worth, The Fifth Dimension’s Aquarius/Let the Sunshine In triggers tears at the triangle beginning.

Also, the 15th round has always bothered me as being remarkably short. I always expect Rocky has at least another minute to tattoo Apollo and will win after Gazzo says “Go for it, Rock!”, but, alas, he never does.

Out of all the crap I could be watching, why do I have the free

first season of Fish I received from buying the set of Barney Miller?

It’s not funny. It’s not interesting. It’s not nostalgic.

It’s annoying.

Especially with the recent purchase of Theo Kojak at the tip of my fingers.

Imagine being eight years old and every morning you wake up, it’s time to go to the circus.

That’s the life my Tilly lives. She wakes up, gives herself a good stretch, and immediately recognizes its time to hit the park to find the old Baaba who brings treats for Tilly. My girl hops out the door and immediately turns left and struts. Yes, struts with the confidence and excitement I haven’t had since 1978, when Clearasil became a necessary purchase.

Side note: Ol’ Treats Baaba is undergoing surgery next week and will be out of commission for the next two months. Wishing her an healthy and quick recovery.

Tilly’s going to be suffering right along with you, like a heroin addict without the help of methadone.
